RED & WHITE SANGRIA 

 

Basic Ingredients:

1 bottled red wine (cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel or Shiraz)

1 lemon cut into wedges

1 orange cut into wedges

2 tbsp sugar

1 shot brandy

2 cups ginger ale, 7 -up or club soda

 

This has to chill at least overnight or up to 3 days.

 

Directions:

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice from the lemon and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges without the seeds and add sugar and brandy. Chill overnight or up to 3 days. Add ginger ale just before serving.

 

If you would like to serve right away, used chilled red wine and serve with lots of ice.

 

Added variations:

Sliced strawberries, peaches, handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, a shot of gin, brandy, rum, a cup of ginger ale, citrus soda pop or lime juice. You can also add diced mango, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice or mango juice.

 

If you have white carpet and want to avoid the chance of stains, you can make white sangrias.

 

1 bottle of chardonnay - reisling, Chablis, Rioja, Pinot Gris, sauvignon blanc

1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar

sliced fresh or frozen peaches - 2 pieces

1 orange, in wedges

1 mango, diced

1/2 liter of ginger ale

 

Pour wine and fruits. Add sugar and stir. Chill for at least 1 hour.

Add ginger ale just before serving.
