Surf and Turf Kabobs


Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time:  4 minutes each skewer

Serves:  8 – 10


1½ lbs. beef tenderloin, cut into 1 inch cubes @ 28 pieces

1 ½ lbs. salmon fillet, cut into 1 inch cubes @30 pieces

2 tablespoon Five Spice Blend – can be found in the spice section of a regular grocery store

2 tablespoon Garam Masala

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 tablespoon Worcestershire 

¼ cup Olive oil

½ teaspoon salt and pepper

12 Bamboo skewers - soaked in cold water for 1 hour


Soak bamboo skewers for at least 2 hours.  Set aside.

Combine five spice blend, garam masala, sugar, Worcestershire sauce and oil using a large small mixing bowl.  Evenly divide marinade into two. 

Place beef and salmon in separate mixing bowl, add the marinade and toss to coat. Refrigerate for an hour or longer.

Coat grill with cooking spray.  Pre heat clean gas grill for about 10 minutes or if using charcoal grill about 30 minutes before grilling. Thread salmon and beef alternately into skewers or separately if you want beef to be well done.

Grill 1 minute each side (total 4 minutes).  Season it with salt and pepper.  Rest the surf and turf skewers for 1 minute before serving.
